School Programs

Every session the school develops and executes a number of programs designed to enrich the learning experience of the pupils, as well as involve parents in the whole school experience. These programs are divided into the three (3) terms in the session and come up at specific times before and after the half term breaks and sometimes at the close of an academic year or a calendar year. Below is a preview of the main programs celebrated, recognized or marked at school.

Special Days

There are certain dates in the calendar year which the United Nations, UNESCO or other bodies set aside to bring awareness to certain persons, subjects or issues around the world. Some are more relevant than others to Nigeria, which we typical try to mark, depending on how it fits into our curriculum and school calendar. Some of these notable days we mark are;

We teach our children about these days, we celebrate most of them with projects, presentations, entertainment etc.

Graduation and Awards Ceremony

At the end of the session, we celebrate our children who have successfully completed a milestone in the particular section and fulfilled the requirements for advancement to the next level. These children are usually the Nursery Two pupils who have completed preschool and are moving up to the Primary One class in the new session, and the Year 6 pupils who have completed Primary school and are moving on to Secondary School.

On this same day, we recognize the pupils who have excelled in the academics, as well as those who have excelled in their attitude and other non-academic areas. There are also special awards given to children who have exceeded the expectations of all and stood out of the crowd. Some award categories include;

Christmas Event

At the end of the year, we celebrate the yuletide season at Oren school in a variety of ways. Not to be monotonous, we alternate these activities every year. Typically, therefore, we celebrate some years with a Themed Christmas Concert complete with all the festivities of a grand show comprising elaborate costumes, stage setting and props, and several presentations by the various sections and classes. The teachers are not left out as they also prepare a presentation for the show.

Another year, we would offer the Christmas Carol Night where we would have renditions of old and new Christmas carol songs by the children in a serene calm atmosphere. This event may also involve presentation of the Nativity scene depicting the birth of Jesus Christ.

Some years, we would organize a Christmas Party and Fun Day for the children with all the trimmings of face painting, music, dancing, bouncing castles, water pistols, games, food, drinks, and of course a visit from good old saint Nick, Mr. Santa Claus himself.
